Description

The Individual Carbine A5 (IC-A5) hails directly from the rifles LWRCI developed for the U.S. Army’s Individual Carbine Program. The requirements for this program called for a weapon that was accurate, reliable, fully ambidextrous, and would accept 1913 picatinny rail accessories. The IC-A5 meets all of these requirements and more, delivering high-performance AR-platform to the discerning shooter. In terms of accuracy, the IC-A5 is outfitted with a NiCorr treated, cold-hammer forged barrel with a 1:7 twist rate to stabilize a wide array of different bullet types. A unique feature of the barrel is its spiral fluting, not only does this give the rifle a distinct appearance, but also reduces the weight by 20% (when compared to barrels of the same diameter) and increases the surface area to speed up cooling after multiple shots. Like all of LWRCI’s premium rifles, the IC-A5 is exceptionally reliable. This can be attributed to the patented LWRCI short-stroke gas piston system, a system renowned for its dependability and ease of maintenance. The IC-A5 also comes standard with a nickel-boron coated bolt carrier for unmatched resistance to wear and corrosion while also providing permanent lubricity. To enhance the reliability even further, the rifle is equipped with the LWRCI Enhanced Fire Control Group, which utilizes nickel-Teflon coated components for a smooth, crisp trigger pull with a positive reset. In addition to its accuracy and reliability, the IC-A5 offers a variety of user friendly controls. The safety selector, charging handle, bolt release, and magazine release are all ambidextrous for comfortable shooting with either hand, and an enlarged trigger guard allows for shooting with gloves. Another intuitive aspect of the IC-A5 is its low profile 2-position adjustable gas block, allowing the rifle to be finely tuned for use with a suppressor.

Out of the box it seems top quality. I wanted a piston driven AR and after lots of research, narrowed my choices down to only 3 worth buying. The HKmr556, LWRC a5 and the LMT (I know sig makes one but I will never buy a gun from them). the LMT was hard to find and the HK was about $1,000 more than the LWRC and the LWRC had more features I wanted. After buying the LWRC, 10 pmags, a Vortex 1-8 srtike eagle and a mount, Im still under the cost of the mr556. I cant speak to the long term durability/performance of the LWRC so I dont know yet if Ive made the right choice. I do know LWRC has a great reputation for customer service as does eurooptic so I feel confident that any possible problems will be resolved.
