Description
The SIG MCX Pistol is essentially a scaled down version of the renowned SIG MCX Rattler – a weapon designed for US Special Operations Command as a new Personal Defense Weapon (PDW) to replace the MP5. The SIG MCX pistol excels at applications in confined spaces, such as CQC or home defense, and makes for a pretty handy truck-gun as well. Like its larger rifle counterpart, the SIG MCX pistol utilizes a short-stroke recoil gas piston operating system. This innovative design sets the MCX apart from other AR/M4 platforms in the sense that it doesn’t require a buffertube, making all weapons in the MCX series considerably shorter when compared to traditional AR/M4 designs. Instead of a buffertube, the MCX pistol features a picatinny rail, allowing accessories such as folding stocks (with proper NFA paperwork) and folding braces to be installed without impacting functionality. Aside from the lack of a buffertube, the MCX Pistol’s design, operation, and controls are identical to AR-type platforms such as an ambidextrous AR charging handle, ambidextrous safety selector, and ambidextrous magazine release. In addition, the MCX Pistol features a full length flattop picatinny rail for the installation of optics and iron sights.
