Description
By the early 1860’s, the market for small repeating percussion cap pistols had reached an all-time high. In response, the Colt Firearms company began scaling down their large framed revolvers into smaller versions to meet the civilian demand. One such example of this is the 1862 Police. It was essentially a miniature version of the 1860 Army but with a slightly modified fluted cylinder. These pistols saw some service with various police departments, but they were also very popular among Civil War Officers who weren’t expected to see front line combat but still needed a smaller weapon for personal defense.
Uberti’s 1862 Police Revolver is an authentic reproduction of the original down to the last detail, including the 5-shot engraved barrel, octagonal barrel and conventional loading lever.
