Description

Leica’s Geovid Pro brings a whole new level of optical performance and rangefinding abilities in one of the smallest and lightest packages available. The Geovid Pro’s versatility extends to literally any shooter or hunter, from rifle to bow, and delivers high performance in any environment, distance, and elevation. The Geovid Pro can be linked with a smartphone, and when using the Leica Ballistics App, the user can create specific ballistic profiles which can then be transferred directly to the binoculars. After the profiles are transferred, the Geovid Pro can use its advanced rangefinder and on-board Applied Ballistics software to calculate a precise ballistic solution on targets up to 875 yards away. This solution is based on factors including range, equivalent horizontal range, holdover units, and number of clicks. To ensure the most accurate ballistic solution, the Geovid 32 Pro is outfitted with an array of environmental sensors to detect factors such as air pressure, temperature, and angles. The rangefinder itself delivers exceptionally short measuring time at enormous distances up to 2,500 yards. Thanks to the latest in Bluetooth connectivity, the Geovid Pro can connect with additional accessories such as Garmin’s line of smartwatches, and Kestrel Weather Meters for even more accurate ballistic solutions and ranging.

One of the Geovid Pro’s more notable features is Leica’s exclusive ProTrack technology. This proprietary feature can guide the user to the location of whatever they ranged – even without cell reception. This GPS mapping integration is made possible through the use of Basemap, Google maps, and Garmin mapping.

First of all... I only give 5 stars if something is absolutely the very best and perfected in execution to the point where it is impossible to imagine an improvement. I am exceptionally satisfied with 4 star products and in fact 95% of those products which I use with the most regularity and enjoy are 4 stars. The 10x42 Geovid Pro is incredible. I have only had it for a couple of weeks and I already don't understand how I have hunted without them for all of these years. What prompted me to buy them was a missed shot on a pronghorn where the guide gave me some dodgy yardage on a shot at the very extreme of my comfort. It was my call to take the shot and my responsibility for the miss and in the guide's defense he was using my Leica 3200 rangefinder when he ranged the slope behind the animal instead of the pronghorn itself. The little rangefinder is impossible to hold steady at a distance (at least for me) beyond 250 yards when trying to range a small animal like a pronghorn. These Geovid Pros are light (shockingly so) but incredibly steady compared to the little handheld rangefinders. The time savings by not having to glass with the binos and then switch to a rangefinder can save about 20-30 seconds which can mean the difference between a shot taken and an opportunity missed. I have used an older variant of the technology by Swarovski at the gun range and I can honestly say both Swaro's and Leica's will serve a hunter very well. I just happen to be a rabid Leica fan and a photographer so my loyalty to Leica products extends across their entire range. I liked the ergonomics (I read some other reviews where this was not the case.) The button layout and menu options were intuitive and easy to operate even when I tried it with my gloves on. The glass... is flawless. If you have ever spent 5 hours glassing with inferior optics you will immediately appreciate what German glass can do to your overall sense of happiness and well being. What did I not like? I was not a fan of the overly sized nylon case that felt almost cheap when compared to the quality of the binoculars. It is perfectly functional but seems out of place for such a well engineered optic. I don't wear a bio harness. Yes my optics get a little beat up but they are a tool that I use without trying to save them from every possible bump and scrape. I would just like a nice pouch to put them in when traveling or when they are just sitting in the safe... like the one that came with the Ultravids. It would be nice if there was a screw mount for use with a tripod instead of having to use a rubber clamp. I am not certain but I believe Swarovski has this feature. I can't wait to take them to Africa so I can have an idea of the ranges before the PH has to tell me my guess was off by 100+ meters because I have no reference for the animal size or the terrain. I like the Leica Geovid Pro and if you have never used ranging binoculars before I would guess that you will too!
