SiOnyx Illuminator Kit for Aurora Devices K011700

The IR illuminator works with the SiOnyx Aurora Pro as advertised. The IR illuminator will illuminate pitch-black field of view where there is no starlight or trace indoor lighting to allow the Aurora to operate above minimum threshold. The IR illuminator renders the color picture in the Aurora as black-and white, with crisp definition of viewed scenes. As was the case with the Aurora Pro, the IR Illuminator kit was packaged professionally in a custom-cut Kaizen case. The MIL-STD-1913 quick-disconnect Picatinny rail mount and Aurora adapter work to attach the illuminator to either to the Aurora, or directly to a weapons rail. The lateral offset on the quick disconnect Picatinny rail mount keeps the relatively large diameter objective lens from interfering with the fore grip for traditional AR style firearms; for the Steyer AUG, this is not the case, as the limited Picatinny rail arrangement will dictate mounting to the top-rail, and will encroach into the field of view. For the price point, the combination Aurora Pro / Illuminator is a value combination. As prices decline and availability of starlight and IR-imaging night vision equipment improve, the SiOnyx system remains economical and relevant. The customer experience with EuroOptics has for me been positive.
