Description

Trijicon’s IR-Hunter delivers powerful thermal imaging in a compact, easy to use package. The core of the system is the advanced 12 micron thermal image sensor that provides superior image quality in virtually any lighting condition, and the 640x480 resolution features 4 times as many pixels when compared to the competing 320 systems. The IR-Hunter displays sources of heat on three different pallets: black hot, white hot, and edge detect. Black hot displays heat signatures as black silhouettes over a predominantly white background, white hot shows heat sources as white silhouettes over a dark background, and edge detect casts an outline around sources of heat. In addition, the IR-Hunter features five user-selectable reticle choices: an MRAD based reticle, an MOA based reticle and bullet drop compensation reticles optimized for .223, .308, and .300 Blackout.

It doesn't have color or recording like the ones costing a few thousand more but those things aren't important to me. I'm used to 3X9 scopes and 3 has worked fine for me so I got the bigger 60mm thermal. The field of view is not as wide as I thought it would be and think maybe the 35mm would have been better at the lower power. I wouldn't have to be searching as much through the scope looking for the little critters (Nutria) that destroy our property. The warm bodies really stand out through the brush and grass that I couldn't normally see. I had an ATN I.R. type scope before which was an absolute waste. This scope takes a bit of adjusting for the best view in different situations. Sighting in works well once I figured out how the reticles move when adjusting. I think it will remember 4 different sight-ins for swapping between different guns. It can record still pictures on its own but not video that I know of. I think if you want to record there is a patch cord you can plug it into a phone or laptop to record, which doesn't seem practical in the field. But if you are just out to get a job done this works fine and of course Trijicon is tuff and well built in the US, and stand behind their products.
